Hi Pug Lovers
Just got the pug back from the garage, went in for its mot and to check the engine management light on suffering from loss of power on a random basis and to check on excessive black smoke. Came out with a fail due to leaking union to near-side rear wheel cylinder and door mirror being insecure, tied on to door with two plastic ties due to the smash I had on a narrow blind bend.
I was thinking of just getting two or three big screws and whacking them in to the wing mirror and the frame of the door to get the pass for the MOT till I get the new door and mirror on ( would that do for a pass ?) and get the leaking brake sorted.
The garage cleared fault codes which were various, had to fit a missing 10 amp fuse which reconnected Diag with ECU and operated EGR system, checked the filters for contamination all Ok , Road-tested car and no faults re appeared. On mechanic report says if fault re occurs, compression timing and possible injector testing required. Didn't get to have a chat with the mechanic as I picked the car up as the garage was closing , got all the info from the receptionist . So still not sure what is causing the smoke , even tho it passed the smoke test in the MOT with a Mean of FAS Tests: of 2.07 m-1 . Car is on 149000 miles and a bit clanky from the top end.
So if anyone can enlighten me on the wing mirror and MOT issue and compression timing injector testing would be a great help . All the best Pug lovers and a merry xmas
