Cold start?

Hey,

On a cold start the car will start and fire up fine. Thing is when I pull away pretty quickly, there seems to be a slight hesitation - as if the motor is being starved of petrol for around 1 second?

Fuel filter has been recently replaced and I'm not getting any warning lights?

The car will run fine after this - no problems what so ever?

Any pointers

Could be the fuel pump is slow to start up - going by the "starved" comment.

The other is over-fueling to get the cat going - too much fuel and it will not ignite properly.
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

Maybe flush the oil then. I dunno, if it had a carb I'd be thinking not enugh choke, do they have much in the way of cold start enrichment? 5th injector, anything like that?

raised fuel pressure, higher idle, longer injector duration, retarded ignition timing, heated throttle housing if intake and coolant temp is below 0 centigrade

I'm talking about when the ambient air temp is around 25 degrees - also the car has been left in the sun all day at work so maybe I'm thinking some kind of fuel vapour in the system causing it to stutter?

As for flushing the oil - I have another 2500km to go until next service (10,000km intervals) so maybe it should heal itself then!

Whats the go with the cam follower?

This may seem slightly off topic but may help.

I have a '72 LandRover with the twin chamber electric fuel pump. One day my fan belt became a bit loose and so I had limited electrical power. I found that there was not enough voltage to properly run the pump and so I was rev-limited somewhat.

Just wonder if when the vehicle runs the "more fuel" pattern it is not there. Additional fuel is required to get the CAT running, but that may just balance out. When the rich setting switches off the car may not fuel properly. It then takes a short while for the ECU to work this out and "richen" the mix up again.
