Engine transplant.

Post by kevin6285 »

Hi,
I'm driving Peugeot 406 1997 2000cc Petrol. If not mistaken the engine code should be XU9....

I would like to convert it to DW12 2200cc diesel twin turbo.

Are this 2 engines having same mounting? Do i need to have heavy modification?

Thanks.
Regards,
Kevin

Twin turbo? You'd have to change so much of the car it just wouldn't be worth it. Unless you could find a 2.2 twin turbo diesel write-off, then sell the shell once you're done.

Even if it could be done i would do it with a diesel 406 to begin with. Then you dont have to f*ck about with the fuel tank/lines and maybe wiring?

i presume this is the new psa twin turbo 2.2 hdi, as fitted in the 407? if it is, forget it. its multiplexed to the hilt and would be an absolute nightmare to sort.

Mikey s,
Yeah the engine is from latest 407 2.2HDi. If this new engine wouldn't work how about the OLD 406 2.2 HDi?

TooT,
What is the horse power and torque for 406 2.2HDi? Are they having same engine mounting as mine?

steve_earwig,
I'm looking for this engine very soon if the engine mounting same as mine. Other wise will go for 406 2.2 HDi

Kevin

I hasitate to call you mad because I don't know who you are and maybe you have a card or two (or a whole deck) up your sleeve. How much of the engine's emission control systems do you think you can leave out? What about the particle filter and the eolys? No-one's managed to work out a way of making the engine happy without it yet so I think everyone would be interested to hear if you have. What will you do with the interface to the BSI? I can't help thinking that, at best, you'll have an engine in permenant "limp home mode", at worst an expensive (and very large) paperweight. Please tell me you know what you're doing!!
