Bleed screw

Post by devonian »

Hi people

think I need to bleed and prime the fuel system on my 1.9TD. Previous owner had new fuel filter put in before I got it. Car can be difficult to start from cold, but if i prime it with the hand pump it will fire first time....
So, haynes suggests bleeding air from the fuel line by loosening the bleed screw on the 'injection pump inlet pipe union bolt', but helpfully does not show a picture of this. Being just a bit ignorant where is this 'bleeding screw'!? :?

Once it's started it bleeds itself, sounds a bit like a problem I had once, caused by a slight air leak from the filter housing.
Overnight the fuel drained back to the tank pulling air in. Check the seals on the filter housing & pipes for tightness.

sounds like a well known problem for me.... the flippin spill pipes!!!

they went on my vectra, and on my puggy... but unfortunately the vectra didnt have a primer, and it sat for about 4days untill i found the solution, as i couldnt afford the garage to take it away @ god knows how much a hour 4 god knows what parts they suggest i should buy to line their pockets with gold lol

so.... even if they dont look crap (coz the vecras didnt) ... go down to ya local partco / unipart and grab some of the hose (bout £3) and change it ova.... if it dont work then least its one issue out of the way
