Car is a 2003 2.2 td 406 executive, mileage 48k. This light comes on after a short period of fast driving. When I adopt a more sedate level of driving it goes out. The handbook refers to a malfunction in the injection or emission control system and says that the catalytic converter may be damaged.
Surely though the light would remain on if that was the case. There is though, no effect of performance. Where is the switch that activates this light. Would appreciate advice from the experts.

Re: Engine autodiagnostic warning light
Hello!
I had a similar 'problem' with my pug. The engine autodiagnostic warning light came on for a couple of minutes. It did not have any effect on the performance.... I was terrified, because I love my car
Since I was due for regular service, I asked the people in the garage... They told me that it probably came on because of 'difficult driving conditions'. They did the diagnostic check, which didn't show any problems. They also told me there could be several reasons for the warning light to come on (bad petrol, for example)
When it happened to me, I was stuck in a traffic jam, driving up a very steep hill. The light didn't remain on and it never happened again. So I believe it was a false alarm

You need to get the codes read Dylann. There might be something wrong, no point risking it IMO.
