Got a bizarre problem with a rumbling from the front whist driving the faster and longer I drive the car the more apparent it becomes. If I take it out of gear and coast it just a noticeable. I am becoming concerned about it but am unsure what it could be I was thinking it could be a bearing but I get no audible sound from the car squealing. I am also guessing it could be springs as the car doesn’t like rough roads it seems to worsen the issue and after reading viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4763&start=30&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
I am getting concerned. It’s a 406 HDI 2ltr 90BHP Vplate 99 with 115000 . Any ideas as to what this could be would be greatly appreciated
I was thinking wheel bearing but the noise should change as you corner as the loading changes. I think you'd better get it in the air and have a squint asap. Good luck!
Following on from munfred, get your wheels balanced; may be as simple as that

Looking under the bonnet after the mention of the engine mounts and there seems to be a lot of movement when I start the engine on the passenger side. The engine also seems to lean to the passenger side. Is there any thing I can do to confirm it’s the engine mount easily?

Got Peugeot to change the engine mount @ £147 which has solved some of the problems but still getting the F#@king Rumbling. It is driving me mad the car doesn’t feel right starting to think it is the wheel bearing as it does sound worse when going round corners at times (to the right only) now and still getting it on the straight .I have jacked the car up and the turned the wheel that seems to be making the noise and it doesn’t seem obvious that it is the bearing. What can I do any further advise would help, does this even sound like a bearing issue or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Stick the spare wheel on and see if there's any difference.
When you jacked the car up was the wheel binding at all when you span it?

Get it up on axle stands and see if the rumbling's there when turning the wheels by hand - or at least a roughness to the motion. Could be a stuck brake caliper...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
