coolant hoses

Post by gRoberts »

Hi all,

My car in for a service and whilst they were replacing the water pump, they noticed that a coolant hose was corroded and leaking.

Apparently its a dealer only part, that comes in three pieces... I have had a look on servicebox but I can't really see much.

Has anyone had this problem before? I was told that its a big job as it spans the back of the engine and it can damage the rad when removing it?

It's a R reg - 406 2.1 td lx.

Cheers

That sounds quite likely, what with these strange connectors Pug use. I've no experience myself (yet :frown: ) but I had a quick look on Service Pox and this looked like the likeliest bit 00001351T3 WTR OUTLET HOSE 69.90 GBP but I can't make out if it comes in 3 pieces and I can't see any hoses that run behind the engine, unless they mean a heater feed pipe.

It's an important one apparently. I still haven't picked up the car yet so I will have more information when I get it.

I saw that on servicebox but it didn't look like as was described.

It's sods law, I come into money and its pretty much all going on the car. Whats worse is I am starting a new job on monday which means i cycle to work.

I suppose it's likely they'll damage the rad if it's hard to get the joint apart so perhaps they're preparing you. Or they're a bunch of ham-fisted clods and they want to use a road breaker on it to save time :frown: If they do trash the rad I don't suppose you'll ever know but it'd be worth a squint at the old parts before you cough up any cash.

Did they change the timing belt when they had it in bits? Or was that the point of the excercise?

Sorry it's giving you so much grief, hopefully once you've got this stuff sorted it should prove more reliable.

The car has been very good to me and it was only a matter of time that something needed changing.

I took the car in for a full service + timing belt + water pump (all for £300 using genuine peugeot parts) and they noticed it whilst changing the belt.

I've also just been told that the drop links and an engine mount needs replacing.

Another £300 to fix :(
