hi, i was changing the front shocks on my 1.9dt, and when i was taking out the strut the driveshaft came too and the oil poured out of her. i was doin the otherside makin sure not to do the same but sure enough it did.I think i managed to get them back in, driverside was alot harder.
I asked about and someone told me that there are some kind of pins in there that hold them in place. Does any one know anything about these or has had the same problem. Cheers!
There's supposed to be a little spring circlip that holds them in but they never seem to do a hell of a lot. So long as the driveshafts are all the way in that should be ok, the only worry is damaging the seals but you won't know until you start driving it I'm afraid. Hey, maybe you already are, I dunno If much oil came out don't forget to check the level.
hi, thanks very much put my mind 2 rest! Had to get a new strut bearing head 2day so il see how she drives when i get it all back together again. I drained all the oil, mite aswell give it a full change as most of it came out. Just need 2 clean up the spillage then. lol cheers

Remember what came out was transmission oil, not engine oil. You'll need to use a garage's 4-post ramp to do this (or put it on 4 axle stands) since putting the right amount in requires the car to be level. I wouldn't drive it until this has been done! Also make sure you put the right grade in, as it seems gearboxes don't last long without it

I had the window out and was half way up the road... oj! Invested in a haynes manual, handy, seen those clips n where to put in the oil, great buy. I got her up on axle stands n filled her up, gears run alot better now too, so was a blessin in disguise. so shes back on the road again! cheers!
