The old "time bandit" has come to the end of it's life.
I am looking for something to replace it with.
I am thinking a lower mileage 406 HDI 110 (i currently have the 90), or a Laguna DCI. I am attracted to the laguna because of it's low price (1.9 DCI 54 plate 75K miles FSH for £2,500). The reason so cheap is because of the DCI's Garrett turbo issues.
My question is this, do you think it is worth taking a punt on the Laguna or will i regret it? I am hoping that if the car has FSH the oil will have been changed by Renault using synthetic oil as recomended, this should counter the Garrett turbo oil seal issues.
Any feedback appreciated

Re: Replacement for 406 HDI
I had a Laguna Mk.1 and all I can say is that it had SERIOUS build quality issues. The Mk.2 version was apparently even worse with major electrical and water ingress problems which seemed to affect a very non-trivial amount of owners. I wouldn't touch another Renault with a barge pole. Even the *incredibly* sexy new models
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Re: Replacement for 406 HDI
I looked long & hard at Lagunas before going for the 406 - wasa put off but 3 work colleagues who slated them & wouldn't have another. Tried Mondeos, Mazda 6, Passat, 5 series BMW, but I'm very pleased with the Pug
