hey i had the anti poulltion warning come on this morning when i was leaving my gfs and my car just cut out went to fire her up and it started then stop, now it wont start or nothing how can i fix this help please my car is 406 y plate hdi(90) lx

The anti pollution warning might not be the cause of it not running. The most popular HDi issue seems to be fuel pump related - lots of people have had LP pump failures and I had one where I lost the power to the pump due to a wiring problem.
Now, I may be completely wrong, but do you now if your LP pump is running, or if you've got fuel at the filter?

i had the fuel filter and oil filter and oil changed on thursday, i unscrewed the bleed valve and some derv comes out, only reason i can think of that anti pollution fault is as thats what came up on the screen before it played up, should it be worth me getting it to get someone to put it on machine or take it straight to the dealer

I honestly can't advise you what's best to investigate the anti pollution issue - the dealers are more expensive but possibly less likely to mis-interpret what it's telling you.
When mine packed in, the diagnostic kit said 'EGR valve fault' or something to that effect. The real problem was the lack of electrical supply to some ECU controlled relays, one of which operated the EGR valve, (hence the message), the other worked the electric fuel pump in the tank, (LP pump), hence no fuel, so it wouldn't start.
Normally, when you turn the key on to the ignition position, you should be able to hear the pump run for about 10 seconds, then it should stop. If you can't hear this at all, or if it sounds rougher than usual, it may be your problem.

As if, their track record for diagnosing cars on this forum isn't too clever. The dealers told me the fuel pump on my 2.1 was dying, a Bosch service said needle lift sensor, changed it, pump's still going 3 years later.

It depends greatly on which dealer you visit, some are great and will ignore spurious fault codes and dive straight in for the kill but others............

I had the same problem with my petrol 406, it comes and goes all the time. Peugeot put it onto the computer and nothing was being recorded. With no loss in performance, I have just driven away and let it come on and off as it wants. The only thing the stealer did say, was that it was a common petrol peugeot fault and what they would do, is to change the water temperature sensor! Strange, the fault even appears when the car is cold, so I said no thanks to their wisdom or lack of it.

picked the car up with the beaver tail today lucky enough my dad bought it for me to go banger racing with so saves me money on towing fees as well, i tried to start her still no luck, rang the dealer today and as for a price on the test on the machine been quoted £70 plus vat was not happy but car no good to me broke down so all booked in for tomorrow i will let you know what is said on done after the stealer done the test

took the car to the stealer all booked at 2 so got there at 1:50 went in and told them i was there they turned around and said it would be a 3 hour wait for it to be done running behind i walked right back out and got another garage to test it came up with no fuel pressure they took a pipe of the filter and no derv came out so they put it down to the fuel pump but they havnt had a proper look yet so i took the car away, so just an idea i gotta check, your views welcome
