Welcome Sid :)
Have you checked the fuse? A few people have had the fan fail as well.

Won't be the heater matrix, but it could well be the blower motor. It's easy to get to - get your head under the passenger footwell, take off the soundproofing material and you should see the blower. It's 3 philips screws to remove after you've disconnected the multi-way wiring connector (gets very stiff) and unclipped the loom from the front. The common fault with these is the single red wire going into the middle of the fan ends up burning the spade connector.

Easy to test, easy to replace, and fairly easy to botch a repair if you've got some needle files and a high powered soldering iron

Just fixed one of those on a 1.9td 405, squirted some WD40 into the motor's brushes, dunno how long it'll last though.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!

Hi all, actual i have done one with similar problem and the cause was not the fan or resistor. infact the ignition barrel, at the bottem of the steering lock. it had worn.

p.s it sounds silly but true, happy to assist, please ask as complex?
