Pretty much perfect - the "Stub" template says "you can help Wikipedia by expanding it" though (think they'll notice?)

I don't know anything about templates, or how easy it would be to change that one so it says "our site" or "the Peugeot 406 Wiki" or something other than Wikipedia.

A minor gripe, though, as it's doing exactly what it's meant to do :cheesy:

Is it OK to have links to an external site? I have put a Cambelt/80k service how-to guide for the 3.0V6 on my own website, then created a new Wiki category under Engines - Petrol to link to it.

Hope that is the right way of doing this.

Martin.

Hi there - not sure what anyone else thinks about this, but I don't see the harm in it. Thanks for your contribution :)

In any case, I've added the "Knowledge Base", "Engines", and "Petrol" categories to your article, so that it is listed in the Knowledge Base section under the correct sub-category (this will be more useful later, when the KB grows and fills out with more content).

I think this is a great development & would like to thank all concerned in doing this for us. As a relative newcomer, I am aware that content was lost from the forum due to hackers etc. - hate to see anything similar happen here. Do you/we have precautions to prevent this kind of thing?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

I am happy to donate space on my website for backups etc, though I imagine it is already covered.

I've got daily online backups from my host, can go back a pull stuff out from specific dates, also making weekly backups to my home pc just incase, so basically i have backups of the modified scripts for the wiki and a full backup of the database that can be reinstated, so if the worst happens i reckon it could be back up inside 15 mins

I would suggest that whenever a member carries out a repair procedure (eg. changing a dash bulb or removing and re-soldering the dash PCB) it be photographed and a step-by step guide added to the wiki (or the photos emailed to a member with the time to create one).

Bit of a busy weekend but if I can sneak out to work on the car I'll take some photos of removing the instrument panel :)

Everyone who's contributed so far - fantastic work! This may prove an invaluable source of knowledge and experience

Oh, and can we do entries about an individual's car? For example, a link to 'member's 406s' then a linked member list. People can provide their car specs and photos, adding a link to their forum sigs for easy access to the information without cluttering up the board with exhaustive data. Furthermore, if anyone is doing a major project (as I hope too) they could keep a diary with a stage-by-stage of what they're doing, where they're getting their info etc. That kind of malarkey :)

Sounds good to me, i have to change both door locks, glove box and boot lock when i have time, going to photo every stage for a wiki how to.

I've just setup a quick page for this, feel free to add your own info in, or change it round, anything you like really!

Nutski, I just fixed that page up for you so that the category system is a bit more structured, and I've put a quick "How To" in on the "Members Cars" category. Hope you don't mind!
