AIRCON waste

Post by eoin27 »

Flippin Aircon.

After reading the topic on misting windows I realised that i need to examine my aircon situation again. I must have spent over €150 in halfords trying to refill the aircon. My last 406 had climate control and i just pumped in a load of new gas. That escaped because there was a leak. The next time ( with my new 406 with manual aircon) i put in the leak blocker and then pumped in another load. Still no aircon. I'm not going to spend another penny if I'm just wasting time.

Any suggestions?

The local garage (& lots of others I've seen) have a machine which won't just put gas in, but checks the system first and tells you what the fault is. Takes about half an hour & they check it free while you have an MOT or service or £10 for just the aircon check.

Perished condenser is favourite, followed by the pipework in front of the condenser, and up under the battery.

The pipework fails at the clip positions.

Did anyone else notice a greeny-coloured mushroom cloud over Dublin recently?

Is the condenser and pipework expensive to replace?

Condensor you can get for around £80 ,pipework comes as a pair ,cost
with fitting and re gas at your local friendly stealer around £300 pipes on their
own around £70 ,if its a D9 the 2 pipes coming off the back of the compressor
£157 ,there is also a pressure switch on the condensor that can leak £42 and if
your compressor is fooked because it has been dry for a long time £5/600

Well forget it so. I understand that the A/C switches on automatically for the climate control. But i have manual A/C and that doesn't switch on by itself so why don't these compressors and pipes get designed to sit there for long periods of time. Very frustrating

They are but the system also suffers from natural seepage so you
are supposed to have them checked regularly
