Losing oil

Post by Dan224 »

Is it normal for a 406 to burn oil? I only ask as I got mine serviced in Feb and my oil level has dropped by half already!! I've checked for any leaks but can't find any, any ideas anyone?

Sorry chap but what engine is it? I don't think anyone will search through your old posts to find this out you see :)

btw the HDi never uses a drop of oil.

Sometimes a different grade oil will burn off quicker, maybe they used something a bit 'thin' like a 5/30W.

Doh!!!
Its a 2.0ltr petrol, 2001 non turbo  , the guy that did the service said he used the recomended grade oil, but I'll have to take his word on that. In all fairness he did do a good job, even down to greasing the fuel filler hinge, (probably why its now broke!)

I put Mobil 1 in my 2.1 as I got it for nothing.

Burned half of it on 1 length of the M6!

Stick to the gloopy oil, it lasts longer.
She cannae take it captain!
