Cambelt Tensioner Automatic or manual?

Post by Leopold »

Hi all,

I am about to change my cambelt on my 1999/T Peugeot 406 1.8i 16v D8 shape (so last of the mk1 shape). I need to know if it will have either a Automatic Tensioner or Manual Tensioner? Would anyone please help?

Many thanks,

Lee

Hi Lee, there is a fairly complicated way of tensioning these belts, if you've ever come across one, it's very similar to the 16V Vauxhall Ecotec engine as far as the tensioner goes, in that it has a pointer and a slot that the pointer has to line up at for the tension to be correct.

It is both sprung and manual if you understand what I mean.

I printed off the info for someone a few weeks ago, if you have access to a timing belt book have a look in there, failing that, I will glady send you the info if you PM me your address.
