both or one rear wheel?
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.

Probably the lower link bush has had it. Have you had the car up in the air to see if it's anything obvious?

i was at ATS today to get the new tyres fitted, and he and myself had a look and could not see anything obvious, before taking the wheel off he said it will be the bushes but when he took the wheel off he was suprised and said it cant be bushes as its different to other cars, i dont know what he mean by this and advised me to check it out at a specialist garage????????

"vibrating on gear change" - likely a duff top engine mount
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Get the alignment on the rear wheels checked out, the top link bar is eccentirc and is used to adjust toe-in and out which also adjusts the camber of the wheel at the same time. Mine was going through rear tyres at an alarming rate in a similar fashion to yours on the inner edge, but that seems to be more or less cured now after having all 4 wheels aligned.
