Lumpy idle briefly on start-up

Post by stevenlizuk »

Hello all,

As ever the Funbus has been performing flawlessly 'til I paid it a little attention to it and replaced the front pads and discs.

On starting it idles for a few seconds then cuts out for about half a second then goes again.
Does this two or three times after starting then runs with no problems at all.
Thinking maybe air getting in somewhere?

Any clues?

Cheers
Steve

You could check your glow plugs, I had one go on mine, starts instantly but lumpy idle and smoky until warm.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!

Look for bubbles in the two clear fuel pipes between the injection pump and fuel filter.

Glow plugs only went in last year and the cars starts with no hesitation, might run an injector cleaner through it.
