Air in fuel lines.

Hello all,
Last post was looking for help with the car when it was stuttering a littlle on startup and the running ok.

Pumped the priming bulb tonight and spotted air in the line.

Is there a common failure with the 2.1 that lets air into the system?
It's not bad at the moment but I'd rather fix it than let my ten year old fuel pump and injectors munch air.

As always any help is appreciated.

You need to check the usal places for both the 2.1 and 1.9, fuel filter hoseing base seal (remove filter, undo nut in the bottom, remove filter houseing, clean up both surfaces with thiners, reseal with fuel resistant sealant, bolt back on, leave untill sealant has dried before priming system), While you have the sealant seal up the small round white bit on the L/H/S of the housing (it's a thurmostat), also check the fuel priming bulb as these perish over time, remember that just becourse you can't see fuel leaking out it doesn't mean it's not sucking air in, as the system works on negative pressure.
On the 2.1 you have clear fuel lines, so it should be quite easy to see where you are getting bubbles into the system.
What your suffering from is the fuel draining back to the tank alowing air in when the car is sat for any time.

Still fuel in the lines, just seeing bubbles in it when i squeese the priming bulb.

There isn't much air in it where ever it is getting in but I'd rather fix it than let it get worse.
Poor old bus needs all the love it can get!

The lucas epic is very suseptable to even a small amount of air, so to get the most out of it you need to stop it getting in.
Something I forgot earlier is to check the tank strainer, as if this is slightly blocked it will put a strain on the weakest part of the system and will suck in air.
Also ckeck the quick releace fittings up by the bulkhead and the pipes that conect to the sender unit in the tank.
