Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
I think if you look at the situation logically, if all was well before the cam belt change then there must be something wrong, like the valve timing being a tooth out.
Go back and get them to check it out.

Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
can the belt be checked with out stripping down is it a visual thing i could see
Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
Sorry, but you would have to get as far as taking the timing belt covers off and checking the timing or at least the top cover off and fitting a pin through the timing hole in the flywheel., then checking if the cam pulley hole is in the correct position ( about 8 o' clock).
Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
Could it be that vacume pipes to the turbo actuator have been desturbed ?

I would first check all hoses to the turbo,& intercooler if you have one.I had the belt changed on my Xantia TD a few years ago.All was well untill 2 miles from the garage,i put my foot down & nothing.Found the intercooler hose clip not tightend,& the hose had come off.
Have also had this myself, forgetting to tighten a turbo hose up,& having no power

Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
Had the same issue when I had my timing belt (and water pump and aux belt) replaced ... well ... as it's all on the same side may as well hit all 3 in one go! Turned out the grease monkey had pulled a vacuum pipe off at the rear of the engine ... took the b*gger 6 days to sort it though!!!!!!!!

Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
If you called me a grease monkey you would wait 6 months.
Accidents happen, it's easy to pull off a pipe and not know, but to be fair, he should have looked straight away.

Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
No offence intended Jasper ... I only refer the term to incompetent mechs ... none such on this site.
Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
No problem, i'm just an over-sensitive old git, been in the job 40 years and hate being referred to as a grease monkey ....don't mind being called an old git

Re: Help no power from turbo after cam belt change
Dunno if this show itself up as a by product of a vac leak but...If a vac pipe is off or leaking would you feel it on the brakes too... ie although working they would need a little more pressure and less bite? As there would be reduced vacuum at the servo.Just a thought on where to look to narrow it down a little?
