Post by redfar »

Hello,
I have a Peugeot 406 1.9td and rev counter some times it drops to zero.I have read that there is a pick up sensor on the fly wheel but I can't find it.If some one knows the location exactly or can take a picture I will epriciate very much.

If the sensor's shot, the ECU won't inject any fuel so the engine will stop.

Your problem's more likely than not a dry solder joint on the back of the instrument cluster

I noticed today that when the car is on engine brake the revcounter drops to zero that's why I think it's a sender fault. When it's driving normally or on idle the rev counter does not drop to zero.

Problem solved it was the Crank Sensor mounted on the top of the gearbox.

Probably the bell housing, counting the starter ring teeth.

It's mounted on the engine block, right next to the bell housing. It's on the top but towards the rear. Take the air filter box out and you should see it. See my V6 clutch howto for its location on mine...
