K&N filter questions

on my 2.2 sri, will a k&n filter be worth it?

will i get better mpg? worse mpg?

will i see any gains in performance?

any other things to be aware of?

You will get some induction roar (if you like that kinda thing) and maybe a more perky throttle response but no +10/15 bhp

Induction kits work better on Turbo'd cars.

I agree with whats been said, i've ran both K&N panel and cone filters in different cars over the years. You won't notice any difference in noise or performance will the panel filter and a cone filter induction kit 'in my experience' has increased noise and hasn't noticibly increased power

Better saving your money and sticking a clean paper filter in your air box

I've used them in the past and they make no difference what so ever.
Aside from having the "Do Not Remove" sticker under the bonnet it's the only difference it will make

They are the "Bifidus Digestivum" of the car world.

Having said that if you're going to keep the car for more filter changes than the K&N cost you than they make financial sense.
Unless you count all of the injector work that you will need as your filter is poor enough to let golf balls into your air

Not forgetting that drawing hotter, less dense air from under the bonnet will reduce the avialable oxygen and hence slow it down.....

I believe most of these 'go-faster' gadgets are actually designed to slow down yer boy racers without them realising
Just consider the average Corsa / Rover 25 / Fiasco with hooge zorst, lowered sussy, massive alloys c/w next-to-no profile boots, having to literally crawl over & around speed humps, drain covers etc.

Self-funding speed management. Brilliant!

totaly agree with all thats been said and learnt the hard way its a good way to waste money , fitted a induction kit to my rover 620ti some years ago its cost me over 100quid, feeling all smug set off to the rolling road and first thing the guy said was "who stuck that stupid thing there?", anyway to prove a point he did a run with the induction kit and one with the original air box , the induction kit actually lost me 4bhp!!!!!!!
