ECU wire burnt

Post by jibz »

Hello Guys,
I really cant expalain what happened to my 406, i saw smoke coming out of the bonnet then wires burning, was able to contain it.
problem now is that the wire that got burnt is the one from the ECU to injector,....etc. I was able to fix that temporarily but i am just scared (probably the wire loom needs replacement).
Any idea Where i can get another one???? tried car breaker websites no luck.

Erk! Do you have a multimeter with resistance setting? If so, compare the resistance of the pins on the injector in question with the other injectors. If it's significantly lower, you'll need to replace the injector otherwise it'll melt the wire again and/or damage the ECU!

Of course, it could just be a damaged wire...

Thanks,
dont have a multimeter but can get one.. the issue is that i wanna replace the ECU wire, and probabbly replace the injector (as you suggested).. dont wanna take chances
...But the major issue now is getting the ECU wire, which i have tried but cant get from the breakers

As long as the guage is the same or greater than the existing wire you can use what you like!

Multimeter style testers come either moving coil or lcd readout at a variety of prices.
At the cheap end of the scale I recommend the lcd readout which has a higher degree of accuracy than the moving coil (needle) type.
