10/40 comma super diesel mineral in mine, exceeds the spec required of the engine. A lot of this synthetic stuff was just designed to extend service intervals so the manufacturers could say how reliable their engines were.

First car I had that took 10 or 15W40 was an '87 2.0 Montego which I ran to 215,000 miles. Never put 20/50 in the engine, but made the mistake of putting it in the gearbox after misinterpreting HBoLs instruction to use 'engine oil'. (In my mind engine oil, without the spec, still meant 20/50).

Took it 2 days to blow the gearbox oil seals.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
