Rear callipers question

Post by locoboy »

Guys, my car failed it's mot on rear foot brake efficiency. Now I suspect it's the calliper sliders that have seized up, I can tryand free them up and re grease them.
If this does not look viabe then I will need.a set of callipers, can anyone confirm if all 406 estate / saloon diesel / petrol callipers are the same? Mine is a 98 2.1 td if it's of any significance.

I need new discs and shoes too as the handbrake was toss!

If it's not stuck calliper sliders what else do you think it could be? Load valve off the rear arb?

I will strip the brakes down at dinner and see what the shoes are like and investigate the calliper problem.

Thanks colin

More likely than not it's the slider, I ended up taking the callipers off to free them up as I couldn't do it on the car. Beware those tiny boots, if they made condoms out of the same stuff there'd be a lot more people around...

Rear callipers are all the same.
