Re: engine oil
I've got Magnatec 10W40 in my V6 and it hasn't blown up yet... Not much more you can say about oil
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
Re: engine oil
Thanks MJB never used this type of oil before just wondered if there were any downsides

Re: engine oil
I just use whatever my mechanic puts in ,Doubt its anything expensive.I think cheap oil more often is better than dear oil at service intervals.
Mine gets an oil change every 5/6k.My indicator says 11k left, and im buggered if im waiting that long.

Re: engine oil
After using semi-synth in a billion oil changes, never had any problems.
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.

Re: engine oil
I agree with you 100%. Every 6k tops and it gets a service. My uncle is a mechanic and he says this stuff actually does work well. A lot of engine wear occurs at startup. It'll be another few years before this stuff becomes standard.406Iain wrote:Mine gets an oil change every 5/6k.My indicator says 11k left, and im buggered if im waiting that long.
The TV ad with the two Sonata's is ridiculous though. The one with no Magnatec wont drive off. Stooopid

Re: engine oil
What do you mean by marketing ploy? It could be an excellent product and still have a marketing plan.robb wrote:marketing ploy
Working in marketing, i find this generalisation a little on the offensive. But Im not going to get too worked up on a sunny Friday morning!!

Re: engine oil
The guys with the high mileage rovers on the forum i used to frequent swore by diesel oil in their petrols.Stick it in for a few miles maybe 400/500, then change it and apparently the detergents in it are better for the engine than a harsh cleaner.
