Re-mapping a hdi 110
Ok I have a 2001 Hdi 110 with 124000 on the clock. Still on orginal clutch and just had major service including timing belt, fan belt, water pump, air flow meter and a load of bushings. Been in my family since new. Do they take a map well or should i just leave it?

Re: Re-mapping a hdi 110
They seem to be good for about 140bhp (stick "remap" in the search box)

Re: Re-mapping a hdi 110
I had my 110 re mapped just after i got it in 2006 at 3 yrs old & 56k miles. My dad had it from new & did lots of caravan towing with it.Its now got 123k miles, original clutch & dm flywheel, still does alot of caravan towing with me,& still pulls like a train.Better mpg, faster, tows great, all for £175.Power is 140 bhp aprox,& 220 lbft of torque.
I do get a slight bit of clutch slip in 3rd gear if i really boot it,or flooring it from low revs in 4th or 5 th when towing the caravan, but it started doing that from the day i had it tuned, but have done 67k odd miles since then so am not too worried. My dads X reg 2000 90 hdi before mine went to one of his friends. It got to 140k before needing a clutch, still doing lots of towing.
Get it done,its worth it.

Re: Re-mapping a hdi 110
If you're considering a remap and the you feel the original clutch is on the way out, why not replace the clutch with an uprated one and a solid flywheel. You can get them online quite easily. You wont have any issues then if you do decide to remap. A remap is definitely worth it by all accounts and your HDi only has 124k so its just broken in nicely.
You waited 124k for a new timing belt? Risky.

Re: Re-mapping a hdi 110
Cheers lads. I think i'll get it done soon. Can the clutch be adjusted on these? Its a very late clutch.

Re: Re-mapping a hdi 110
There's no adjustment possible on the clutch. The pedal and bite point are always very high we've all found.
I think the rise of the pedal is in fact an indicator of a worn clutch
The rear lower engine mount also should be looked at because this will definatelty get ripped to pieces with a re-map. Again another common problem - the replacement mount/bush is cheap enough but requires the drive shaft to come out (split the wheel hub, drain gearbox, press new bush etc etc....) probably getting on for £140.00 in the end just for a £12.00 bush
If it was me I'd 'go solid' with the clutch, do the engine mount and then a re-map but don't expect much change from £1,000.00. A 'proper' re-map will be about £300.00 and should envolve a go on a rolling road to check for correct fuelling etc...
To be honest, if you can pick up a late 2002/2003 HDi for decent money then spending £1,000.00 on these things would give you a nice package altogether and something comparable to an Audi A4 TDi in terms of performance (around 140bhp) but much more comfortable and kinda understated....

Re: Re-mapping a hdi 110
And if you do remap a 2.2HDi down the line you're looking at 170bhp+
