Some progress, or maybe not :?

The Chinese now say, 'we could change a new one for you - please send the broken to us'.

But it works on bro's D8!

This is doubly frustrating:

1. It still won't work on mine.
2. Turns out his '98 1.9TD has a 16-way EOBD connector by the passenger fusebox, not the 30-way connector I chose this kit to get.

I know the two comms protocols are completely different, so I suppose it can support one but not the other. Several people on the coupe forum have used similar kit on HDi coupes, so you'd think it should work.

Maybe if I disconnect the battery, it'll kick the diagnostic port into life......

No.

Same fault, no comms, now no remote central locking
Once I told them it works on a D8, the Chinese now say they think it won't work on mine & to send it back.

Anybody know for certain whether a far-eastern clone has definetely worked on a 2.2 HDi......

Those 2.2 HDis are a tad thin on the ground here, perhaps on the coupe club?

Sounds like they have no idea about their own product :(

Also, sounds like you don't really need that thing talking Chinese to your BSI

Doggy why don't you think about going to Peugeot for a 'Global Test' ?

You might have to stand there like a naughty boy having had mashed up the DPF system but you'd learn a whole lot of stuff I think.

I had a Global done once and the print out was very comprehensive even down to the air con ECU receiving an 'incorrect vehicle speed value' at some point. There was pages of the stuff... :|

I understand though that the risk is that they'll just want to replace the whole system ££££££ but if you could get to chat about it with someone usefull you might be able to get to the bottom of it.

Local Pug dealer's been specialising in the marque for several months now - I just have a morbid fear of funding their 'training programme'.

I got a handheld autec vag405 maxiscan tool which although specialised for vag motors, it talks all OBD1 & OBD2 protocols including pug (kwp2000) and it read and cleared all fault codes on my HDi.....and it only cost £65.

I got mine on ebay and its an epic tool, no laptop required either, and it fits in the glovebox. It does only come with 16 pin OBD2 connector, but other adapters can be had on ebay for under a fiver mostly, I had to get a 2 x 2 one for my old VR6 which was only £3.95.

did you find a cause/solution to your fault?
I'm on the verge of taking of the particulate filter and gutting it as per your KB article as it seems the better solution to trying to clean it or buying expensive replacement, but saw this and wondered if it was linked/caused by the effective removal of the filter?
Anyone else gutted their filter? results?

My hdi went into limp mode on the motorway. I have full Vag-com from my previous VAGS and it can communicate via OBD. It turned out to be the air flow meter. Its boosting now. Its a slow car but i don't know if the one of the soleniods is gone.

How often would the DPF have to be changed like this? about every 7/8 years? 80,000 miles?

So, it can be 'cleaned' but only a few times? and then HAS to be changed for a newy eventually?

Just trying to figure out how often you'd have to pay this kind of amount?

I just worked out that you'd need to cover about 14,500 miles in a HDi (verses a Petrol 406) just to cover that £647.00 filter

Those splendid chaps on the coupe forum have cracked it, hopefully 8)

There are now at least two outfits able to reprogramme the engine ECU to ignore the FAP system, (but for this to be sustainable you have to remove the FAP element before it blocks, as it will in a few hundred miles if it's not regenerated).

Even better, one gentleman has posted the ECU maps with & without the FAP, so you can DIY it, for the price of an ECU flash programming lead. (E-bayed mine last night). :supafrisk:

Tales of woe, or rejoicing coming soon.

Wish me luck.....
