In 1990 I had a 1983 'Y' reg Cav SRi 1.8.

I had a Janspeed 4-branch manifold and sport system, K&N panel filter, Lowered with the then mahoosive 16" aftermarket alloys. I had it rolling roaded at Colin Blower garages in Hinckley and it was putting out 130bhp. I loved that car and it would rev its nuts off all day long :P

It was a kinda metallic green/pearl with an Anthrasite black bottom half. I had the later skirts and factory spoilers fitted too, it was a real looker to be fair at the time but I let it go as usual :|

Pffft, my 1972 Hillman Avenger wasn't far short of that and that was a 1500 with carbs.

It's true, they were terrible for rust, then again everything else of that era was just the same. At least I learned how to weld on them

The Cav's weren't too bad for rust but mine was bubbling up in various places and I looked into having it 'leaded' but that's all I did do - look
