That's the mass air flow sensor (MAF), I think it also includes an air temperature sensor but it's not really in the right place to record the manifold pressure.

A little update on this thread chaps, markoni has pm'd me in his native language (Polish) and from what i can gather, is having problems finding the sensor, could we try and explain it in terms i can understand and i will try my best to translate it for him, it will be good practice for my Polish skills anyway.

he has cleared all the codes and is now only getting code PO238 if this is any help :?

Thanks chaps

We seem to be going round in circles here Disco. The code, (we think), indicates a MAP sensor issue, but as far as we can determine, no MAP sensor is listed for an HDi 90, whether Bosch or Siemens. Like to help, but can't think of a way of moving it forward.

Cheers Doggy, i must admit to not reading past the introductions and having a whinge about the style of question, error codes are all chinese/double dutch/gobbledy gook to me so didnt take it much further

i will try my best to relay the information on to Markoni in my best Ponglish.

just doing my bit for international relations :cheesy:

Hi, friends i resolved problem. I checked again mass air flow meter and found unconnected metal strip (heating element) , i bought used MAF sensor. Now engine working perfectly. I dont understand why code error reader (ELM327) showed the incorrect code of error. Thanks for help,
All of the best.

Glad you got it sorted, thanks you letting us know about it too! :cheesy:

I gather a lot of the time the fault codes are an indication that you can only understand if you have experience, it's not just a simple case of reading the code and changing the component it refers too. I guess most of the time the code is for what the component affects, rather than the component itself.

Bring back points and carbs - you could diagnose faults on them with a knife and fork!

Know what you mean, but I always found carbs bl00dy mystifying.

In Doggy's most recent escapade, I stripped down the mower, took the carb off 3 times & cleaned everything, took the exhaust off, proved I'd got a spark at the plug, then finally tumbled the mixture of 10% petrol & 90% rainwater my son had left me with after leaving the cap off, wouldn't actually IGNITE.
