Used another can on my new 406 today, with the same impressive results. Runs smoother and pulls better at low revs. Might treat it to another can at Christmas.

Why not just block the EGR and never have to worry about it again?

Because I think it's better left as it came out of the factory. And it warms the engine up quicker to.

Anyone else tried this? Wondering if I should just do it the proper way and remove it from the car to clean it or not.

Have you seen the video?
Looks like a bad idea to me because:
  • running with the air filter off seems a bit risky,
  • all that crap has to go through the engine and cat
  • you should make a how to :cheesy:
However, I am currently enjoying a bottle of wynn's diesel injector cleaner

I'm thinking of fitting a water injection system which should keep everything clean anyway.
The diesel knock on that Focus sounded chronic! Really wouldn't want my 406 sounding like that!

I'd love to remove the inlet manifold and the EGR. Clean and polish the manifold and clean out the EGR but afraid I'd break something :|

Whatever caused that over reving, it wasn't the egr cleaner. We use it at work lots of times, and it has never done that.

They revved the engine to show all the crap it cleaned out.

Whats nasty is the high pitched knocking which is predetonation within the cylinder of which can actually over time cause bent conrods.

Just wonder if 99 td 1.9 engine has any electrical sensor or connector on egr valve? If its removed would it trigger engine management? The only one way to clean a egr valve is to remove it n soak it in petrol and hand brush it till u can see its clean again, if uve done that before u will know how bloody dirty they are and no quick spray can 15 mins job can do that. Ondby doing that u can see if the valve spring is working n if the valve is opening n shutting cos a clean faulty valve will smoke too.all diesel i had in the past i removed all their egr valves so no more smokin problem, need to find out if i can do that on the pug
