Could be using the ABS sensors?

Everything's possible.
And if this works, it's gonna be EPIC!

I'm guessing the number of forum members with PP2000 access, an ML5 'box and cruise might not be huge.
I think this is possibley getting beyond what is sensibley achievable for the diy mechanic. One might think how hard can it be? The answer looks to me to be, very difficult.
Modern vehicle electrics being so complicated.
I can see how a 2.2 would benifit from it though.

srdan, if you are anywhere near the Italian border I'd be more than happy to help. I do not know much about engines, but I'm a fast learning guy

hey OdinEidolon, thanks, yes i am bout 1,5h from Italy :) we could try to do some :) some weekend would be great.

I just arrived from test and it seems to be promising.

I was driving about 130km/h (i think a little bit more than 2500rpm) and turned on cruising,
than i turned it of to memorise the speed, than i put in neutral and push the throttle in neutral till 2000rpm...
the computer calculates 5th gear and i never got 6th to be shown in pp2000 but when i turned on cruising while pushing the throttle to 2000 rpm in neutral at 130kmh speed rpm went to 6000rpm than cruiser stopped trying to run the car...

I think it is only maximum rpm based on speed that matters if rpm is lower it seems the ecu does not bother at all...

i think it checks if it is 4 or 5th gear and more than 50kmh, if there see more speed and less rpm there should not be a problem...i hope :)
Any tips on that :) ?

That's good news (both of them).
I live far from the border but study at Trst most of the time, I'm there with my 406. Not a free second at the moment because of all the exams coming in, but count on it for the future!

It works on mine too - speed needs to be > 30 mph / 50 kph & engine revs > about 1300.

(I wasn't expecting it to indicate 6th gear, just wanted to prove it wouldn't refuse to engage cruise if the engine speed was lower that that corresponding to 5th gear).

All good then. 8)

Didn't use my PP2000, but my actuator-based cruise control worked in neutral from where 5th and 6th gears would be... It did quickly redline the engine though

Yeah I know it's just that (with the HDi it's useless and) I can feel the engine cry at those revs
