So, the answer to my question "does it rev up at all?" was no as the throttle linkage was missing!

Thanks for the information re pp2000, now we are talking about what I know. I teach computing to foreign language students.

Its a breakers yard job for a replacement linkage caus supplied by Peugeot it comes as a part of the cable drum assemby at £93.00!
On another note had a letter from the garage owner this am, after telling him his fortune yesterday and he has not only offered to pay for my aa membership upgrade plus give the tubbie a free full service into the bargain. All because I told him that I was going to share the story of his overinflated prices with the world! (You guys are the world aren't you?)
