Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Thanks.
Since you've serviced it it seems to have 'improved vastly..
Its 'less 't'icky now.
Its just like 'its trying to 're-learn...
Is there options in 'plannet to put it back to. 'Say. Factory settings..
Some more history on the car..
When I bought it from the 'dealers the 'tax had run out in 'may
And the 'mot had expired in June..
So may be its just been sat 'idle to long and needs running a bit more...

I don't know enough about planet to be honest, maybe someone more experienced could tell?
Maybe run it for a while and see how it goes?
Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Things are not looking good
I took it on another long run..it seemed to run brilliant.
And 30 -40 miles later it started to kangaroo.
I stopped off at halfords picked up some 'millers. Fuel treatment. To see if that wouid help..
I checked the top of the oil cap and its white.. gunked up mayo..
Don't know what to do next take it back to the dealers and see what they say..
I've had it less than two weeks..
There's nothing on the receipt about having no warranty..
Wouid I have the rights to make them put it right..

Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Yay.... fixed.
Had a compression test done..all good
As a gamble I went and picked up a new coil pack..
And she runs perfect..
Just got a bit of noise from the cam belt now.. but the rattle at top end is gone..

Brilliant news

Must have been that cylinder with the split rubber?
Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Yes I think it was.. cheers.
I've received some more bad news..I took the car into a clutch specialist..
I was sat down in the office waiting on the price expecting it to be stupid..
Nope .. 325 notes.. labour and luk kit... I thought great that's not too bad..
Go for it...
Then he said OK we will do it... but hang on a minute I will just cover the seat up.and in goes a paper mat..
Let's have a drive...honest chap this..
Up the hills we go... sorry mate its not the clutch or anything to do with it...your gearbox is FUBAR...
The input bearing is collapsing...
Then he tells me...take the car back to who you bought it from as it won't be a cheap fix..
Takes it back and he started to edge is way to the wall.
ERM ...I'd like to look at it myself....
Well go on then...
Then he says I'm going on holiday so icarnt do out with it until late next week...
So I don't know what to do now..
Alan the clutch specialist says don't drive it far in this condition or there's a chance that the gear oil will weep out the collapsed input bearing and the clutch will slip...
So I'm now stuck with a car icarnt use...

Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
I didn't get round to listening to that noise....do you want me to run over and have a look?
Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Hi mate..
It sounds like a failing thrust 'bearing'.
But as Alan as said..the noise wouid be evident on the press/release of the pedal.
The 'noise is there in 1st and 2nd gear.. 3rd 4th 5th is nice and quiet - no noise.
I've had a look on the 'net and it looks like these gearboxes are really weak..
He rekons that it was Peugeots fault at factory..when they made these 16v engines they should of upgraded the gearbox.
He said he's had them in where they've failed at 20 k
So with the car being on 100k the box as done well....
I've just got unlucky I guess and landed my self with a car that's come to end of it's shelf life..
So 'its looking like I will have to bite the bullet and pay out for a re-con box.
Hopefully then that will be the last I have to spend on this car for a while..
I think it will a good car then..
I feel better knowing its been serviced by a proffesional ..and I know where I'm at with it now..
Thanks for that mate

Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
There's a good gearbox repair place in Bury and another in Preston.
Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Cheers mate..
'Strangely he rang some one up in bury..
So I guess he might be buying a recon box..and not doing it him self..
He's gave me a price of 400 notes..all in.. this is including recon box and fitting..
He said he has to pay the man with the 'suitcase' so he carnt do it any cheaper..
I've known him a long while and he's always been fair with me.. all tho the company name as a fast fit clutch place as
Had a bad name for its self...
Idont know what to do really..

Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
I've booked it in for Monday.
It will take them 3 days to do the 'work. New lay shaft bearing and 'pin ion bearing..
There sending the box away.. so it looks 'like its actually going to the chaps at 'bury.
Bad bit is..it won't be getting a new clutch kit..as the 'bill will be to big..
I'm just hoping that won't go wrong now..

Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Well..it just gets worse with this car..
Went out to it today 'and there's a small puddle of oil on the garage floor..
Looks like just 'below the crank pulley..
And the exhaust as developed a blow..
Ishouid of just gone to the 'bookies instead of buying this car..

Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
Must be something to do with the oil that was around the cam covers...maybe the cam oil seals or cam cover leaking.lozz wrote:Well..it just gets worse with this car..

Re: peugeot 207 auxbelt tensioner.
.. I've just got the car back.
Iwasnt happy with handing out just shy of 700 notes but it drives like brand new now..
Clutch pedal is as light as a feather now.. surprisingly its a lot lighter on the pedal than the '208'
I had..
Box as been fully rebuilt and a 'luk clutch kit fitted..
The one taken out had around 40 percent wear.. loads of miles left on it but I thought sod it and got them to replace the lot...
They've said the car has had a new sump fitted and that's where the leak is...
So ineed the sump re-sealing again ..plus the two cam covers..
