Mind you I don't know why I'm telling you because you will just go 'manic' anyway and then sort it out

*awaits "I now love my HDi, it's so fast" thread*
lol you know the type then.
Well, clutch be damned, if it dies then it wasn't good enough for me anyway!

I doubt I'll ever accuse the HDi of being fast, but I might stop moaning quite so much about the local vicar giving me a good run for it on his pushbike!

Well.
The one who controls the purse strings said "You can do what you want."
I take that as a yes.
Woot! :D

Spoke to Jamie I think it was and he's around the Bristol area on Monday and it's £219 all in.
Bargain!
Going to phone them in a minute and get it booked in :D

On the clutch front he said it is possible to destroy the clutch with over zealous torque mapping but he knows the safe limits so should be fine.
So my clutch should survive.
Apparently the Picasso is the one that has a chocolate clutch and the 406 isn't too bad :)

So I'll try to get him to up the torque as much as is safe (don't care if the clutch goes in a couple of years, shouldn't be my problem then)

I'll report back when it's done and let you know what it's like.

THen even you can get it done Welly

EDIT:
All booked in now for Monday lunchtime.
I feel like a kiddie in a sweetie shop :P

lol :D

I guess it depends if the manic one WILL melt the clutch or just shorten it's life by a few thousand miles.
Like I said if it blows up in 20k or two years.... Meh!
If it blows up within the next two months.... that would be bad.

I will be asking him to push the envelope as far as is reasonably safe though :cheesy:

Actually, my wife is an angel.

Well unfortunatly the remap will have to wait till next month now :(
There was a small forgotten fact that we have to pay for a holiday this month lol
But next month the car is getting a service the remove the black sludge I have been calling oil and I'll get the remap done after that as long as he's in the area.

Nice one fella, I reckon you'll be well pleased.

Thinking about it, you've probably not spent a penny on the 406 for which her indoors is happy. I suppose with the 'mister2' you were constantly getting services, bits and bobs etc wheres the 406 wants for nothing. She knows you've been complaining about the lack of power and if 200 notes sorts that out then it's not too bad really.

Incidentally, did you know Pipercross do a replacement element for the HDi :P

I am actually really looking forward to your remap write-up now.

Good on ya fella.

Oh and Dai - what's attentive mean with women? when I want sex I just make a grab for her norks - sometimes it works, sometimes not

I am every womans' dream

I can't complain about the HDi tbh (apart from the gutless thing.)
All i've had to do in a year is replace the front tyres so it's been a great car.
Ok next month is service and MOT time, with my grinding front wheel (I'm guessing caliper) and non existant handbrake I may not be feeling the love so a remap next month could put things right ;)

Funny what you say about women, that's pretty much how I might my wife - apart from the other way around.
She wanted sex and stuck my hand on her norks... Oh hello I thought... and the rest was history as they say :cheesy:

To be honest it seems that these remappers really get to grips with your motor when they start delving into it's brain and often unlock the secrets of what's been wrong with the car all along. In other words they double as excellent Diagnostic engineers.

Cool, he may be able to fix my Immobiliser light, random fuel gauge and oil level at the same time ;)
