i think i've done ok with this.

Theres a bit of a story to be told so i'll use this point as a real introduction

I had an MGF for about a year and a half (still got it its for sale if anyone wants a project), then a week ago to the day i was coming back from a nice peacful weekend away when it lost power abd dropped a cylinder on the M1, got towed home and sent it to my regular garage for them to look into it for me.

next i get a phone call about it and they told me it would cost between £500 - £800 to fix, so after laughing at them for a bit (because i have put to much money into it already) i asked them to take it home for me.

i started looking for a cheap motor on autor trader and i found my new pug, a MK3 golf, a 106 and a clio all for around 800 knicker, my pug was the closest being just around the corner from my old mans work in chesterfield.

he went and had a look for me and said for £800 it ace and it goes well for a 10 year old. so i though sod it if he likes it so will i, and i wasn't wrong. i rang the garage a told them i wanted it and i paid over the phone without even looking at it (thats confidance or madness might be the later of the two hmmmmmmmm :!: ) so i paid went that night and fetched it and havent looked back since.

i always promised my self i would never buy a french car or a diesel and i did both i the same day and i glad i did :cheesy:

yeah its got a few problems but hell i only paid £800 for it, so what do i care ill jus fix the faults and make it my own

thanks for the help guys i'll lety you know when i get around to fixing it.

Good lil' story there fella :)

MGF eh? probably head gasket? they don't hold much coolant and suffer badly in this department

What's it worth now as it is? (you don't have to answer this if it's too painfull).

I think you'll like the 406 - nice and comfy

Daren't scare you with what I've sent on mine recently :o

Your lucky in a way, yours is a 'plodder' and will just keep going with very little trouble (old skool mechanicals) 8)

the haynes manual came today so had a look and found out i have the 2.1HDI cable fitted insted of the 1.9 TD one.

never mind i'll try and find one in a scrappy.

But i still have the first problem of the idle speed, so its time to have a look for that in the manual

I'm hoping the new cable routed the right way will do the trick (and I'm usually such a pessimist :cheesy: )
