i see your point, may have to re-think the cambelt plan.

did the spark plug, filter oil today, still getting antipollution fault when i first turn the key but then as normal goes away for the rest of the journey - even stuck some super and injector cleaner in the tank hoping it might go away completely. but on the flip side the engine seems to run so much better now :cheesy:

will try to find time to do the brake bleed and fuel filter tomorrow, any one know how much brake fluid a full change takes?

:D I would never agree to that.

Dan, I used .75 of a litre for a fluid change on a Golf TDi the other day.

As for a cambelt job on a 406, my charges are £195 including the belt kit (tensioner, guide roller, and belt) also including a new alternator belt.

Water pump and anti freeze is extra if required or requested, Petrol or Diesel. They usually take 2 and a half hours except for the 2.1, for some reason they always seem to be a pain.I might charge a little more for those.

Sold! When do you want me to bring the V6 around?
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

my local guy or rather the mate he put me onto is booked for the 21st to do the cambelt, after talking over in a bit more detail (thanks to the advice here) it seems that his quote included replacing the tensioners and then pump and other belts if needed for the grand ol' price of £120 labour + parts so all in all lots lots cheaper

thanks guys!
