I had a similar thing on mine, heavy steering and not centering. Turned out I had an advisory on the strut top bearings, the drivers side was nearly seized up...!
I think if you have 'lumpy' steering then there is a worn uj somewhere. Heavy steering is fluid/strut top bearing problems?
