Can you not whip the bottle off and put it in the dishwasher Cap'n? That'll get rid of the greasy residue for you

I don't think there's any substitute for having it off ( ) and giving it a good clean, unless you something pretty drastic you'll always have a trace of oil coming out of the system and a windscreen you can't see anything through. Hopefully it was all frozen up, the oil won't have gone too far into the system.

Not funny at all (well, perhaps a little). Mate of mine mistook an old bottle of runny Swarfega for antifreeze when he was topping up his old CX500, when it died he took a plug out and cranked it, and got a face full of said Swarfega out the barrel

Czesc...

Welp, the thing started working... partially. Only the headlamp washers are working - nothing is coming out of the windscreen spray thingies. I disconnected the pipe under the bonnet and nothing was coming out of there either. I don't think anything is frozen at the moment (+2 on the display) so either the pump is knackered or there's some oil blockage in the rubber tubing. I'll find out on Friday when I get a chance to get under the car... again.

Getting tired of being under there.

The tax is due this month...

MOT is due next month....

Expensive thing, this car...

If you can find a hose that works, put it into the bottom of the washer tank. Turn on the hose. The oil will be at the top of the tank and should be the first thing to over flow. Leave it running untill clear water comes out then use a strongish solution of fairy. We have this quite a lot at work as some drivers will put any fluid in any hole.

Hi CJ. Cars booked into Lintells on Monday, If I can get there!

Welp, spent the morning trying to diagnose the thing and I am no closer. I took the wheel arch liner off and unplugged the tube. Water started dripping out of the pump quite freely. The tube itself seemed to be a little blocked so I blew through it to free the passageways. However, when engaging the washer, the pump doesn't seem to pump anything. Pump for the headlamps works fine.

Now, it's possible it's just frozen still so I'll wait till it warms up and I'll see if it starts working. If not, new pump time.

The washer pump on the might Volvo is not working today, at all.

I suppose they just lock solid until the temperature improves.

I was looking at the HBOL and there's a mention of a "Washer reservoir level switch" - what is that? Would that stop the pump from operating?

If anything it's just to raise a light when the reservoir's empty. Where did you get with this? Did you have the pump off yet?
