When the engine is cold, it runs in closed loop mode... e.g. no sensors running, once ythe car is upto normal operating temps the sensor is used... The sensor plug fills with coolant so try unplugging the TDC sensor, which is on the bell housing just down below the thermostat cover there is a black thick wire connected to an orange plug, the plug will need drying and then sealing once reconnected, I used normal electricans insulation tape and added a new seal to the thermostat cover, but think I need a new cover as there is still a little drip here and there!

top work dont think i would have sorted this one with out this post car is now running fine and didnt even need a sensor thanx a mill

This might explain my 3000 RPM fault. its random but suddenly the cars refuses to rev over 3000 RPM then its fine a min or so later. will do it about once every 100 miles or so. maybe 3 times per day max.
