Meh. I see something broken and I fix it!

It does need a clutch job (£525) though so I'm starting to think of selling it and getting another. I've dropped enough money on this thing as it is

is that £525 forthe clutch itself, or fitted?

if its fitted buy a clutch and fit it yourself.

probably lots of swearing involved, but better than spending £300+ to keep your hands clean.

oh, and a can of k seal seems to have solved the leak for now, lol - still gonna get a new pipe tho.

It's fitted (6 hours labour at a competent garage). I seriously doubt I can do it myself. From what I can tell It involves dismantling the suspension/steering, disconnecting the driveshafts, disconnecting the hydraulics (yet again), finding some way to support the engine and dropping the gearbox out of the car. Not something I fancy doing outdoors in winter and without help or electricity. Being a glasses wearer, rain is an instant job killer too - it's hard to fix stuff you can't see

If I had a garage at home I'd spend the difference between the clutch kit cost and the get-someone-else-to-do-it cost on the tools needed and I'd have a go at it myself over a weekend for a saving of bugger all, but a gain in experience. As it is, I just can't reasonably expect to do it.

i smashed it into a gate post, now in need of a new wing and wheel arch liner.

it just feels like one thing after another with this thing. I know smashing it is not ITS fault, but ffs - just got it running again and now this.

yay - found my paint !!

painted the driver side of the car a few months ago, and had to get the paint mixed up special as the colour is VERY different from what the code suggests (silvers always a pain), and i found the old tub with the mix formula written on it.

This just got easier :)

yeah, especially since the bodywork on this car is PERFECT

drivers side was painted as the rear driver side door had a big dent in it, but i changed the door off my old gunmetal grey 1.9 td estate which was on the road approx 2 days before the timing belt snapped, i bought this one when looking for an engine for that one, guy told me £250 and i told him i would buy it before i even looked at it, and went to pick it up, took one look at it, found out it had 6 months mot and decided there was no way in hell i would break it, so broke my 1.9 instead.
