Replaced the battery today - no change - still took a good few turns to start. So it will be going back.

Removed the FPR - it looked spotlessly clean. Don't think there's much else I could have checked.

Disconnected the fuel pressure switch/sensor on the common rail as I heard that if the fuel pressure can't be measured, the ECU will use the "default" ones. My thinking was that if the rail pressure was low, then with the default ones, the ECU would open up the injectors. No difference - the only that did is put the EML light on

Still waiting for PP2000.

This is really annoying, as the car is otherwise fine and once started, will keep going all day long (and start) with the usual power. If I can't get this sorted easily and cheaply, this will be the death of it. :(

eBay - £70. Haven't received it yet.

Just been to visit dave406 but something was up with PP2000 as it wouldn't read the engine ECU, despite reading BSI and other stuff. It didn't work on his car either so I think my car broke his laptop

I might have been tempted to have full Global Test at a Peugeot Dealer for that, they'd have told you where the fault is I bet.

Oh hang on I might have just realised the PP2000 would give the same results as a dealer? would that be true? I thought dealers could probe further and more detailed?

Mind you the only fault 'descriptions' I've ever seen are at best a 'hint' as to what might actually be wrong :?

PP2000 is the same as what the dealers used - just as thorough. But yes, it is just a guess at the best of times.

Maybe I'll get lucky...

Only with regard to the contents of your wallet...

A lot of this diagnostic malarkey is knowing how to interpret what it's telling you, and that can only come with experience.

Alex, if you are near this way soon I will plug my PP2000 in and have a look for you, but hopefully yours will show up soon and you can sort it on your own.

I was delving into PP2000 the other day as I was a bit bored, and when I went to look at the ESP ECU, all alarms went off about ABS inoperative etc on the MFD and the laptop said I wasn't authorised to go any further..?? Maybe the clone ones are less intrusive than the 'proper' Peugeot ones..

I think it is version 22, updated with the 2nd disc it came with to V22.24 iirc.

I could update it again but it works fine on my 2004 406 so why bother..?
