Thanks Lozz No not at all, please do make suggestions, i'm really short of suggestions at the moment, i don't mind doing all the work.

I hear the normal noises when turning the ignition prior to start, it is a vibrating kind of noise, but it sounds like
it's coming from the dash or glovebox, (cabuel) Is that the fuel pump, if so the pump should still be fine ?

Just wish i knew where to pull the fuel line, and why there's no fuel coming out from the fuel filter lines ?

But as mentioned, can i remove the pipe at the lifting pump at the back and connect a draining pipe ?
Should i hear noises or see fluid (petrol) in the white little box (fuel pump) while the ignition is on ?

One thing i don't hear anymore is everytime i put the ignition on, just prior to the position cranking the engine, i used to hear a different noise for about 4 seconds, then it stops, the car would then start, i don't hear that 4 second noise anymore, just the "vibrating"
sound, could it be that the 4 second sound is some sort of a injection/injector that is suppose to work everytime for about 4 seconds upon turning the ignition ?

May be the Inertia cut off switch as been triggerd.

do a search on here for inertia cut off switch

you shouid hear noise from lifting pump.
if this is working then itheory it shouid pump out fuel by adding a pipe and sticking it in a petrol can or suitable container that wont melt
with petrol,.

"you should hear noise from lifting pump"

Is that the constant noise i hear at the front (dash) sort of a buzzing noise, otherwise if you specifically mean i place my ear on the lifting pump at the back seat and listen, i can tell you i don't hear anything when ign is on, if the lifting pump is shot, can one replace it with a cheap of the shelf generic one, Peugeot is going to charge me double my salary for one without blinking.

Thank you for the inertia switch idea ! i will go have a look, we have one massive storm brewing at the moment almost breaking as i type, so will be checking this tomorrow when the weather clears, car standing outside, and will post my findings.

If inertia switch isn't in the indicated area on the pic, is there anywhere else i can look for it. i posted pics of my engine, will post of the right side as well.

What does the inertia switch do, could it be that it switched off my lifting pump ?

Bit weird that, lozz!

Number 2 says pompa which might mean pump, number 10 says filtr 2?

what got me thinking is with 406 owner mentioning noise behind dashboard. (that's got me thinking engine bay)
as we all know the humming noise is normaly from under back seat,

car is 1996 -so couid it be old skool pump.??
if so itd be just acase of unplugging fuel line from inlet sticking end in jerry can and feeding pump with some juice (with battery on car disconnected)

icarnt translate this manual ive got access to so that don't help,.altho manual is good for pics.

Yeah, you're right!

With engine turning over the fuel/water should pump out the fuel line at the filter, unless the pump isn't working for some reason.

The next step is definitely checking for a working fuel pump, otherwise, as you say, we are going round in circles.
