406 HDI has 148000 and our 306 Dt has 240000, both could best be describe as Triggers Broom.

We had an 02 plate 406LX hdi110 estate until last month when we sold it with just under 140k on the clock. Served us very well but a week after selling it the head gasket started leaking. Bit of a sticky situation but, for my sins being an ethical man, worked a deal out with the buyer, he pays another 200 quid and takes it into my sons garage and my son will remove the head, have it skimmed if needed and fit a full head gasket set, plus will put a new Timing belt and water pump on with me supplying the parts ~ which i can get trade price. Yes i do know a private sale is buy as seen, tried and tested etc and in fact have a signed bill of sale saying just that but come on, fair is fair.

We replaced the 02 plate with an 03 plate 406s hdi 110 estate [we have 3 dogs and need a good sized estate and the dogs are not allowed in my Beemer]. The 'new' 406 has under 75k on it and its elderly last owner had it for 8 years. Have only found 2 problems with this, the cheap Chinese tyres (Landsail) are/were awful on a winding road in the wet so they have been replaced with a set of 4 hardly worn Goodyear Eagle NCT5's which i had in the back shed and seem to suite the car well. The other fault is the 2 front door locks are very stiff as the previous owner had never manually opened them, always used the remote. GT85 should sort that out.

We service every 5000 miles ~ thank you son yer a good lad. lol.

Mine have done 250000km (sorry don't do miles :D) from '99

Have had it for a few month and it have not had any service since '08, so plenty of work to be done on my first car, even as it is going on pretty well.

Just crossed the 100'000 mile mark today 8)

40'000 miles in my hands in the last 3 years with nothing special, just routine & consumables.

By far the most reliable & rust free car I have ever owned :cheesy:
2004 HDi (90) 'S' Estate, (was) just 62'000 OAP miles, now 108'000
1973 Spitfire 1500 - ENGINE JUST EXPIRED!

Just got my 406 on the weekend and it's already poorly sick... Can't understand how there would be a thing wrong with it.... It's only done 338,000 miles after all... Only just broken in isn't it?

My 2.1 td have covered about 215.000 miles with the last 7k in tuned condition. Do not use oil and the original headgasket and turbo still in place, working shamelessly. ONLY MOBIL 1 oil
'97 2.1 TD SV 215.000 miles (march '14)

Bosch pump converted - yes, its tuned
