2.1TD That revving thing!

It seems the revving thing that the 2.1TDs do before the engine is hot is quite common. For me the biggest issue with this is the embarrassment- it always happens when I'm queuing in traffic and I feel like a chavvy boy racer or an Audi driver when it happens

I've been trawling the net to find out what it is and have come up with two possibilities.
Either....
The temp sender on the side of the cylinder head above the bellhousing-the green one......cheap
Or the stop solenoid on the fuel pump........expensive!
-
I know there has been a discussion about it on this site so I plan to change the temp sender for a new one at around a tenner. If that doesn't work I will 'liberate' a solenoid the next time I visit a scrappies.
I'll will post the results of the experiment!

On the plus side, the old 2.1 sailed through it's MOT yesterday without so much as a recommendation- 3rd year in a row :cheesy:

Ive just ordered the two engine management temp sensors. one was 20 quid, the other was a tenner, i didnt know which was which, so i got both,

Mine has also recently started doing this. hopefully the sensor will sort my trusty 2.1

Yeah, mine was bearable to start with but it's got worse of late!
Fingers crossed it will be a cure........just when I though I would have a maintenance free weekend  Still, shouldnt take long to do.
