hello guys,

i was surfing the web earlier looking for guides totune up my hdi engine , and could only find a guide to a TD engine!

anyone who can help me with this?

the best tuneup you can do is to remove the inlet manifold and scrape the carbon gunk out of it, they block about 30% of the diameter after about 100k miles, then once you have done that, blank the egr so it cant gunk up again

hi im new to all this, but i was having problems with losing power with my 406 hdi (90hp) i was cleaning to maf sensor which didnt seem dirty but accidently knocked off a small piece of metal which crosses the sensor thingys inside the air intake. there are 2 but i only hit one off, i put it back togeteher and now it goes like a rocket. :shock:

lol nice , did u really gain some power with it? or did it just bring back what u lost when having problems?

hi yes theres more power there than i use to have, very noticable on hills. its like the turbo is on steroids now haha.

would ya mind just undoing your MAF and taking a photo or 2? i can do the same on mine :) and compare ;) not like its gonna take more than 5 mins :p

hi yes got 2 pics for you altho not great off my mobile phone, inside you will see 2 thin bits of metal that connect to each other at the end with like a tiny ball on end to, and also a plastic plate with hole in it that has 2 thin bits of metal there both if you look carefully have a very thin wire on top connecting each end together. i knocked off the one nearest the mesh. very easy to take off to. everytime i go out in it now i just cant belive the difference, and best of all it doesnt use any more fuel than it was. dave

yes thats the same one, the 4th pic down is showing a close up of the metal parts(i have no idea what there called) but its not showing the other side of them. il try and find other links.

:idea: well to be sure u could get one from the scrap yard and try it, i got one for £10+vat just in case. but had no problems atall.

well i tried customizing the MAF, and it works perfectly , has been to the garage since and they cleared it with flying colours.

i would say a must for anyone ;)
