406 2.1 diesel turbo change

Post by pjb0150 »

just checking something --i have just read that if the turbo goes awal-- to change it requires the engine out ..
if correct --this will put me off this car big time
does this also apply to the 1.9 diesel as well.
seems like a major design flaw if so ...
please clarify ....

It will come off in a similar manor to the 8 valve petrol turbo, theres a guide on here somewhere of how to do that, its more of a pain but it can be done. easiest taking the head off and doing head gasket and timing belt while your in there though.

it can be done with the engine in place, but expect a lot of skint knuckles and swearing.

most jobs i do on mine, i find it easier to support the engine, and remove the mounts, that way the engine can be moved around the engine bay for clearance without having to undo the 10 million wires and pipes.
