Has anyone successfully transplanted the ES9J4S 210BHP engine in place of the ES9J4 194 BHP one??
What are the snags? - what needs to be changed apart from the obvious?

wont be a straight swap as the 210 engine has alot more complex engine management systems(variable valve timimg)
but if you are prepaired to change alot of the wiring loom ect for an extra 14bhp good luck.

This has been covered many times before...

You'll need:

Engine
Pipework
ECU
ABS ECU
Engine harness
Engine fusebox
Passenger fusebox
Intermediate harness
Dashboard harness
Body harness
Instrument cluster
BSI
Stereo
Display
Steering wheel
Airbag ECU
Possibly COM2000
Lower dashboard fascia
Central locking ECU
Immobiliser ECU
Door locks
...

Basically everything electrical in the car will have to be replaced

Nah, you're wrong, I'm sure you could get away with leaving the stereo (might need an adaptor tho) :cheesy:

I think the main problem is the engine ecu will be looking for the bsi to talk to, if you can find a way of keeping it happy then maybe. Or have a custom ecu built. Cheaper to put an engine in the boot...

Cheaper and easier to go buy a later V6 with it all done at the factory :|

Although, if this guys engine is kapput then it's a fair question to try to do this but if it's purely a modding thing then it's a bit much to tackle successfully.

Thanks for the responses; hadn't realised this is old territory for some of you, but I've not been a member that long! My engine (D8) is fine at the moment, having recently had a cambelt change with everything related at the same time; it just occurred to me that if my engine ever went kaputt, someone clever out there might have found a crafty way of doing the swop without mega-issues in the electrical department. For the time being then, reckon I'll stay as I am; with the Supersprint cat back stainless exhaust system and the K & N filter element I might be getting 195 BHP?
Anyone interested in details of the Koni dampers and shortened springs I recently fitted?

Sounds like it might be less complicated to strap a rocket to the roof!

1. Put rocket on roof
2. Weld rocket in place
3. Light blue touch paper?

Rocket science is over-rated

Anyone see Mythbusters when they reviewed the JATO Rocket Car urban legend?

Love that show 8)
