got a chance of a 6 speed gearbox out of a gti6 does anyone now if it will fit my 2.1? and are the ratios any good?

Exactly the wrong box, you'll lose performance. Ratios are for an engine that revs to 6k+...

I was writing a response but it's all there if you just stick gti6 & gearbox in the search box. Er, no, btw.

There is a suspicion the 6-speed from the 407 would fit tho

did a search but there is a mix of info some says it wont fit some say it does and some say its no good because of the rev range
some mention the 407 6 box but nobody seams to no for sure

I looked at this on the frenchcarforum and apparently you would be doing about 50 flat out in 6th bouncing off the governer, would be interesting to get some more info on the ratio's used in the 407 box though.

There was a thread on the coupé club forums a while back, might be worth a squint if you're interested.
