So, sold the turbo on ebay, guy emails me today says the turbo is seized.

I take it in good faith that this is honest - so thinking about if this could be right.

The car was struggling to boost, but put this down to an issue elsewhere as it was intermittend at first and got worse later.

No sign of any 'then there was loads of oil coming out the engine' happening ..... although I did ask on here if some oil should be in the pipes and the general answer was yes, within reason.

Mmmm - what to do? Shipment was £25, my cost, sold it for £80. Should I ask him to send it to me, at his cost, and refund him and check it out? Is he taking a chance? (No evidence to believe that - has been a good ebay trader and good record with good payment).

£25 to ship a turbo ?, where did you ship it to, Australia ??, i posted a K03 turbo for £6 recorded earlier last year !

As to your turbo problem, how much play was there in the turbo bearings before you shipped it ?, and did it spin smoothly by hand ?, if so, he is likely pulling a fast one, or has fitted it, damaged it, and wants to return it now

My bad, I didnt check the turbo before it was sent - I had assumed it would be OK as the engine had a cambelt problem that caused the issues ..... hindsight now .....

In that case your a bit knackered really, if it was sold through ebay, they will probably refund the seller in full taking the money out of your account and expecting you to arrange collection of the turbo, otherwise, you might be able to persuade the buyer to return it to you, but from the sounds of it, its knackered and you probably dont want it back anyway, so best to refund him and let him drop the turbo in the bin for you

If you want to ship things cheap, try booking through www.parcel2go.com , you will likely find that DHL or a similar big name courier collects the parcel for them, its just that if you book direct with DHL its £25, if you book with DHL through parcel2go its £6 !!
