On my HDI, midrange acceleration is rough, performance is down, and it is pinking under midrange load too. Sounds just like a petrol engine pinking!

Any ideas? EML is on, my code reader will arrive tomorrow...

Edit just to add - it is also hunting a bit , or at least missing a few beats, when started from cold....

But pinking is how a diesel runs I get the point, Welly posted recently this could be the crankshaft position sensor.

I know, but, this sounds awful, sounds like a load of nails rattling in a tin... it aint right!!
